Car Wash

Is it safe to have your car washed in a car wash? Is the top water tight? Won't the brushes from the car wash damage or destroy the top? TIA!

NO.

avoid getting any detergent on your softop.
Rinse it weekly with a stiff stream to dislodge dust(enemy #1)
and use the Raggtopp Cleanser with an OXO feathertip brush when
rinsing won't get out stains. Follow up with Raggtopp protectant a few times
a year. Plexus if you have plastic window for cleaning, Renovo for getting out swirls.

Unless it is a true "hand wash" job, I would stay away.

Don't know about you but I get a great deal of pleasure from washing and detailing my cars myself. Besides, you won't have to worry about strangers and strange machines treating your car with the same technology they wash grandpa's Crown Victoria with.

Handwash if you can. With that being said, if you are getting your car used, good chance its already been though a tunnel wash. If not by the old owner, then by the used car dealer.

I had mine washed in a soft cloth car wash once. The guys who are supposed to drive the cars out at the end left that pretty, new pickup truck sitting there and my little Boxster smacked it right on the trailer hitch. Thank God for the clear bra, no damage, but not a pleasant experience...especially for the manager of the place when he envisioned having to replace a Porsche bumper.

Boxsters are so small and take so little to wash/dry. Unless you abolutely don't have 20 minutes on the weekend to clean up the car, letting strangers do the job seems like an unnecessary risk. Just my $.02.
