No, it only works with Porsche because it was modeled after the factory PIWIS tool. Another company, AutoEnginuity makes a generic OBD2 scanner which you can buy add-on modules for particular models (Porsche being one of them), but this would cost you more than the enthusiast Durametric version. Durametric also makes the BMW-equivalent tool for BMW owners/pro techs.

I understand your concern, I have two other vehicles and they're both non-Porsche and I really don't feel like spending around $200 for a laptop application.
