I once asked my dad "why do you have 3 push brooms in the garage" and his response was

This one here is the $5 push broom that I bought because I was being cheap

This one is the $15 push broom that I bought when I realized that the $5 broom was a piece of crap

This one is the $30 push broom that I bought when I realized that sometimes you need to buy the best tool and I use it every day. The other brooms are there to remind me of my foolish ways.

So in my case, the $13/quart is all that the wife will allow at this point, when it doesn't work I'll spend $100 and do it right the second time.

Replaced the tranny fluid with Royal Purple and it shifts really nice - if I experience any issues I'll post it here... Process wasn't that bad.

I also changed the oil and checked the filter - clean as a whistle!

Ok, so back in October I put in some Royal Purple trans fluid and by December the shifting was really bad when it was cold. So I put the car away for the winter and took it out in March and replaced it with Porsche Trans Fluid. Now the shifting is normal when it's cold in Chicago, around 40's...

Only question that I have now is how do you know if you orer or under filled the transmission? I filled it up until it started spilling out. Is that correct?

That is the correct fill level for the six speed.............and I won't even say "I told you so"............

Hey JFP,

Question about the tranny fluid level. I did my 5 speed and 6 speed manual trans about a week apart 16 months ago. Without going into the garage to check the Bently Manual, I remember I had to make a little dipstick and have the fluid level 11 mm down from the opening. Is my memory good, bad or mixed up on this ? I guess I have to go get out the Bently and reread that part tonight.
