What potential harm may I be causing

by delaying diagnostics to determine the cause of a recurring CEL 0455. Did the obvious and replaced the gas cap. Considering all the areas that may be causing this to occur, what's the worse case scenario?

TIA

You head might explode………………..

Seriously, the most common cause of P0455 is a loose, missing or bad gas cap……………

Garage
If you replaced the cap, cleared the CEL, and the error code returns:
