Ah! That makes sense :-) No idea how to get at transmission but porsche dealer was able to do quick non permanent fix easily and a faulty switch sounds like not too big a deal so i'll take her back there to sort it out.
Ps - driving her to Stuttgart in june this year as my summer hol so want the tiptronic working for the alpine run! :-)
