Brey-Krause rollbar question.

All, does the Brey-Krause rollbar extension require drilling into the car anywhere for installation? New member has a '04 550 special edition and wants to track it but in now way devalue the car. Also does anyone in the Hudson valley area have one they would be willing to rent for a few track events or even sell? Thanks in advance.

No drilling needed
HOWEVER: You must remove the padding on the two rollbars (but this is completely reversible)

Fully reversible and easy to install...

I use a bit of masking tape at the mounting points to keep from scratching the roll hoops. A flat screwdriver wrapped in duct tape is a good tool for roll bar padding removal. 10 minutes on and off.

Here is what it looks like mounted with the pad kit. Yes the top will still go up and down with no restrictions:

For a "before" pic just go out and take a photo of your car.

and here is what it looks on my car

I went a bit of an unusual route with the padding:
I wanted good protection for my head against bumps against the rollbar when not wearing a helmet but didn't want to get the bulky looking B-K rollbar padding.
So
* I found two old hoop paddings and created some cutouts with the dremel then so that they would fit with the B-K mounting hardware. This way the rollbar hoops are completely "OEM covered"
* I padded the foward facing part of the rollbar with special rollbar padding (which is now showing it's age and needs to be replaced as you can see on the pictures)
