Socrat: I like it. I've been using all kinds of stuff over the years on saddles and other cars. My wife hates Lexol, neatsfoot oll, Meg's Leather One Step, etc (the stoopidest Meg's product is some wipes in a can.. these people are all hype and little product!) and the only thing she uses on her saddle is someting with 'thane' in it.

I like Leatherique. It has a label made at Kinkos..and it doesn't live up to their hype 'raises the dirt to the surface' (maybe my stuff is not all that dirty?!) - but also doesn't 'oil' the hell out of the leather.. and there's a part-2 that skims off any excess.

I got some real leather (natural tan) to re-do the seat of my truck when I get some time. I don't like what passes for modern hide. Even Connolly before they went tits-up was making 'painted' leather that looked like viynl. I got leather in my little Ford SUV and Visteon would have been better off offering Ford some hi-grade viynl as an option given the marginal look/feel of their 'leather'.

I may be able to offer more about what's in the seat in the near future. I need to buy a beater to make a dog seat pattern. If so - then I can take it apart to see what's on the underside. Let you know.

Socrat and other clean freaks,
This weekend I installed new Boxster Red Recaro leather seats. They looked very clean, I wiped them down with a damp microfiber towel and thought it was good enough. They looked spotless...
But of course I won't leave it at that.

So out came the 1Z Enizett Leather Care (cleaner). I did one panel at a time and the towel was dark with dirt and debris after each panel. Really nasty. I had to go get a second towel to finish the first seat. After about 30 minutes I applied Lexol for conditioning. it'll be Good for a couple of months before I reapply.

in the edn it still looked the same! I guess you can't trust your eyes with your leather.

Quote from RandallNeighbour:

"Leather airbags have a pattern that goes in a closed loop that follows the triangular form of the airbag about one or two inches from the outside edge on the front of the airbag. It was an expensive option that you don't find too often."

Do anyone know off hand what option package that was? My used 2001 has the airbag stitching. I have the factory print on the options - but not sure which one may have included this.

Is there a link/site that has the options for various years explained?
