hmmm....I'm highly interested. Though would an S top fit on a non-S car?

I don't believe there's a difference in tops. The only specifics I know of depends on the generation (986/987) as to what will fit on what. To my knowledge, a 986 hardtop will fit any 986 from 97-04. I think the person just wrote that because it came off of an S.

If I'm wrong and anyone can correct, please do.

Aside from that, I'm really hoping the seller didn't lean the top up against that brick wall as it appears they may have in the third picture they have posted.

window trim color

I have (what I was told is) an "S" hardtop on my '98 986 and it has platinum/titanium colored trim around the rear window to match the front window trim for "S" models.

However my car is not an "S" model so the platinum trim does not match my front window....you wouldn't notice unless you were looking very hard. The top fits fine, just a very subtle difference to the rear window.

Half way down under "Discreet Design"

..."Titanium color highlights bars in the front air intakes, the windshield trim (and rear window trim for the optional aluminum hardtop)....

The 'S' designation is completely irrelevant to hardtops. A 986 hardtop will fit any 986, a 987 hardtop will fit any 987.
