I am curious to know if there are any Porsche events, meets, cars&coffee, even a "good wrench" .... out in my new locale ? There's plenty in the Boston and metro west area ...
not sure what's out here ?

99 Boxster

Charlie, how many miles if you don't mind me asking ?

I like to get a sense of the amount of miles people can expect out of
their Boxsters. Have you put a lot of money into it ?

jdiba, I am a fairly new Porsche owner. My car has approx. 54,000 miles on it. I'm the second owner of the car. Car was always serviced by a Porsche dealership and I love the car. Recently I started reading 986 form, and found out I have a time bomb with the IMS and the rear main seal RMS. I started to inquire about having the IMS replaced before something major happens. What I would like to know from this form in Massachusetts are there any reasonable and reputable places that do after market repairs and close to where I live in Western Mass. If there is anyone that would not mind leaving me their phone number, I would appreciate being able to speak to someone that knows these cars, and could help me with some of these decisions. Thank You. Charlie

All of the good p-mechanics that I know are all located in the eastern part of the state .

I graduated from Williston-Northhampton class of 79'. Loved ski racing at Mt. Tom and at all the ski areas in Western Mass.

Hope you guys are making it through the winter!

Charley (after market repairs in West. Ma)

Charley, I live in Central Ma, so am not familiar with any P-mechanics out that
way, but Auto Sport Engineering in Stowe, Ma (Central Ma) is outstanding. I
take my car there. They're actually on the LM Engineering approved repair
shops list. I talked with the owner about doing IMS the upgrade. I might do it
this summer when I have the $$. Mark and Len. They're Father and Son. Been
in business for 30 years. Nothing but Porsches.

You're the first to speak so highly of Auto Sport Engineering in Stowe . I, along with many other Porschephiles in the area, certainly have our druthers about them. Especially the father . If you plan to have them do your IMS upgrade, I suggest that you bring a shower curtain with you; because you're going to get "soaked" !

LOL. I can only offer personal experience. I'd have to research on anyone else
in the area. Mine is an 01 S. Until last month, was a CPO vehicle. I just bought
an Extended Service Contract by Fidelity Warranty Services thru the Nashua
dealership. Thats where I'd always gotten mine serviced for warranty stuff until
it expired. Had an RMS leak taken care of by Porsche of Nashua. But to do the
IMS upgrade, you obvisouly gotta find someone else. Autosport has experience
doing them from what they tell me. Got any other shops I could look into Johnny?

I'm not someone who likes to cast aspersions on shops or mechanics, but, in all honesty, any time that I spoke with the folks (always Len) at ASE in Stowe, I never received a direct or specific answer to any of my questions or concerns. And I have heard similar reports from other P-car owners. Stroked & Blown makes a good recommendation with Auto Engineering in Lexington. In fact, if you are seriously considering doing the IMS upgrade, according to LN Engineering, they've actually performed this procedure in the past . Previously, I've done business with European Performance Engineering in Natick . Jerry Pellegrino and his staff are excellent to deal with and extremely knowledgeable .
