A/C not working.. is this common?

Have a 00 S and the a/c does not put out cold air.. So far I have:

Depressed both lines to see if there was any pressure and there seemed to be a ton. I am planning on going by my old work tomorrow and having my boss putting the gauges on it.

Pulled off the access panel to see if the compressor was spinning, which it was. I zipped off the clutch plate and didnt really notice anything unusual.

When I unplug the pressure switch the system stops so it appears to be fine as well.

At this point the only thing I can think of is to check the actual pressure and see if there is a possible blockage???

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thanks for looking and the suggestions

AC on my 2000 S isn't working either. I measured the system and it shows good pressure, I can hear the compressor kick on when I turn it to Lo. I felt the aluminum lines next to the battery ( on the passenger side) and they aren't cold. I'm not sure which ones are supposed to be cold.
What else should I check? Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

What I can remember about AC not blowing cold air is 1) the compressor has gone bad 2) the drier is clogged. These are main 2 problems of an AC, the last one is you are low on freon.

Hi,

Verify the A/C relay on the panel in the trunk, there is a wired spool in the relay that is connected to some sort of resistor, the wire can snap and cause the A/C not to start.

If that is your situation you can unwind the wire and resolder it to the resistor.

This happened to my car 3 years ago and never failed again after I fixed it .

Is the AC relay in the front or rear trunk? I'm armed with a voltmeter and soldering iron Thanks!

Garage
My '97's A/C hasn't been working from the start (a large oversight on my part...I have my moments ), but it's still under warranty from the seller, so I'm going to have them check it out for me. I hear it kick over and run but I get no sort of cold air from it. Hopefully it's just bone dry of freon and a charge will fix everything.

Let us know how it turns out.

I have a relay chart for the 2000 Boxster on my website at http://www.theschillings.com/pcars.htm Click on the Boxster site then look under "Where Is It".
