New Glass Window.

I got a small rock chip in my window about a week ago. I was on a closed coarse on my way home from work today in the high 130's and in changed to a full on crack down the middle. Remember I was on a closed coarse

My question is...... Do I have safelite come and replace it or get a factory front windshield and have it put in at the dealer?

Jay, the dealer would probably outsource it to a glass shop anyway, so I would just work with Safelite to order an OEM windshield made by Saint Gobain which says "Sekurit" on the window. The aftermarket one is made by Pilkington. They both should have the radio antenna embedded in the glass. Make sure they put towels around your dash to prevent any scratches to your dash leather, and after they put the glass in, don't drive the car for a day or so, so that the seal sets right.

You gotta tell me where this "closed course" is.

Honestly I was moving along on my way home and was passing a car or two. I looked down and I was near the 140 mark. My coarse is highly classified. I don't break 55 on public roads. I am sorry to disapoint

I may just have to call safelite. They did my van in 12 minutes. Really 12 mins. I will make them take there time on my box though.

Lemme know if you are up for a cruise to a vineyard and then some dinner one sunday. Anyone else is welcome also.

I have replaced my twice using safelite. There is a winshield "kit" of seals that must be purchased from the dealer prior to install. If i recall, about 100$.

The first time the came out, they did not know about this kit. I did not know either, it slowed install by one day while they ran to the dealer to purchase it.

The second time I just bought it before hand.

Safelight used a Pilkington windshield and their standard gasket on my boxster and I actually like it better than the factory gasket... plus, the factory gasket I ordered from Sunset was all bent up by UPS and couldn't be used, so I didn't have much of a choice.

$425 installed. I'm betting the sekurit one is at least 150% of this or more. Let us know what you pay.

BTW, all the closed courses around here are crawling with LEOs
