Performance Paper air filter for intake

I just got an Air Intake from ebay i believe its some brand called Rennline. Anyways its basically exactly like agency power. It has a cone air filter that looks and smells oiled and I have heard that it can mess up the MAF leading to CEL. My question is does anyone have any suggestion on a high performance paper air filter that I can replace the wire oiled one with?

Really appreciate the advice.

The problem with cones on a Boxster is most destroy the airbox, having the negative effect of increasing the intake air temperature. Whether one believes oiled cloth or paper ruins an engine or under-performs in it's filtration duties, is as personal as a religion choice; especially on this BB! (haha). Anyway, IMO, people get into trouble when they clean and (re oil) these units. If a person slathers their filter with the oil in the K&N recharge kit, they might as well source a MAF that day.

There are a couple different flat panel high flow units or paper, Fabspeed sells an expensive version of a K&N.

Again, my opinion only, since you already have the cone and you are not changing the oil as it was applied at the manufacturer, you are far safer than what I described above. If the airbox is incomplete, and there is an opportunity to encase the cone, I'd certainly concentrate on that.

PS Anyone who knows what they call the head on the "special" fasteners on the MAF or where to get the magic tool for said fasteners, please advise...

The screws used to secure the MAF sensor are "security torx" screws. They look like normal torx screws, except that they have a protruding center piece in the screw so that normal torx screwdrivers cannot remove them. This way, they are so-called "tamper proof". Picture of a security torx screw here:



In order to remove them, you have to buy a tamper proof or security torx bit set, which has a hole in the center of the torx bit to fit into the tamper proof screw:


You can usually find these for cheap at a local auto parts store. I got mine for like $8 bucks at a Pep Boys.

Torx and new security torx, WTF isn't that like OFF and maximum strength OFF?

New torx and security torx, from bend & Grab Em, Inc. When my maf goes, those are getting replaced with good old fashioned phillips heads, maybe that 100 I spent on easy outs for the headers will come in handy after all....

Why go to all the trouble a minor increase in performance if noticeable at all. I get mine from Pelican. Brand called Mann for $17.00, buy a couple and change them with the oil.
