side skirts without changing bumper? pics?

anyone done side skirts without changing bumpers. I've got an '01 S and dig the looks of it all around, with the exception of the somewhat cheesy looking stuff along the bottom of the side...so I'm thinking of doing side skirts, but don't really care to change the bumper.
Will that look odd? any one got a pic of theirs set up this way?
would love to get the gemballa skirts, but ouch on the price...not sure it's a big enough deal to me to do that. any other skirts out there that you like?

thanks

I plan on doing the same. I'm leary of changing the front bumper and doing track/autocross. I have a bra and clear bra on my stock nose. Seems like a waste to get rid of right now.

an ebay seller has the sideskirts in fiberglass for the GT3 and Turbo look $300-400. I heard from a previous customer who gave it the thumbs up. I think they have a web page called precision porsche where they list the skirting and GT3 GT2 Turbo front bumpers for higher than the ebay list. Seems like a new business.

I'm leaning towards teh GT3 look
waiting to hear from them on availability since my Carrera 5 spokes are on the way. Maybe we can ask for a group rate or something.

other options
The Aero Kit II in poly urethane are available from Sun Coast(?) for $600-$700
Also sold on Ebay. I don't really dig the shape of those as much as the GT3 but poly urethane is much stronger, although I never had a problem with my old fiberglass skirting on my Miata which sat much lower than my BoxsterS. The only issue was chipping into the 'intake' of the side skirt. The rocks didn't seem to bounce off as easy because of the pocket effect.

I think as long as you have 18" wheels the side skirting should look good without having to upgrade the standard front bumper.

I like Tommy's Skirts(that does sound funny lol). There are tasteful and not overly done. I think subtle but different would be the way to go if I was looking for some skirts.

I heard back from the Ebay seller if anyone is interested. He's selling them for $400 not including shipping. Let me know if anyone is interested perhaps we can get a price discount for a few sets.

here's a pic on black

I'd be interested...

perfectlap,
particularly if we could drive that price down to the $300 range.
it's the gt3 skirt correct? and not painted at that price?
do you know how much it would cost to paint / install? or can you install them yourself?

I asked about painting before, the seller said that he wasn't thrilled about the idea since he has someone else paint his fiberglass so he couldn't guarantee a color match.
which seems right, I don't think its a good idea to paint first without fitting. With fibergalss there is always some finishing/sanding required to get a perfect fit before the paint goes down.
The labor isn't as cheap as I thought. Its about $300 around this part of the country. ($500 for a high end shop). You could do allot of the prepwork yourself which would require you to jack up the car, remove the wheels, drill on the skirting, and do some sanding. Then remove, take it down to your paint shop and re-install it yourself. I've preped small fiberglass/polyurethane objects and its not too complicated. Very time consuming since amateurs like me go slowly.

I'll ask him how much he would charge for two sets. I don't think he would knock 1/4 of the price off but maybe if we can get another taker.

I have to ask him about the mounting hardware, when he had the skirting on Ebay he said he would throw in the dealer hardware for the winner. I think it sold for $450.

Heard back from Precision Porsche. Unfortunately they are as low as they can go at $400 for the set. And to be honest I don't think I have ever seen anything cheaper. Even the side side Skirting from Racing Beat was about that much and they deal with only Japanese aftermarket.

I'm going to give it a shot. I heard from a previous customer who was totally satisfied. THe mounting hardware is another $30. I want to do this quickly as my Carrera 5 spokes will be mounted in a couple of weeks.

where'd you get the 5 spokes?

and for how much, if you don't mind my asking?

And I think I'll pass on the skirts for now...I found a local guy who can do them at about the same price but less hassle (since he's local, and he'll do all the paint / install).
