Question Dashboard Illumination - Help

Hi All,

I've got a 2003 Boxster S and the instrument panel lights (not the LED speedo etc) are not lighting up when I switch the headlights on. Also, the number plate lights do not work. I thought this was suspicious so checked the fuse box and it appears they are on the same fuse. So I replaced the fuse, replaced the number plate light bulbs (which were both blown) and still nothing!

I have checked the dimmer and this is not down, so its not that.

Rechecked the fuse, still ok. Tried the original one in another fuse and it works so definately not the fuse.

the fault seems to be intermittent as in the other day it illuminated fine. Has anybody had this issue before and can the advise what it is.

Thanks

p.s here a pic of her.

Welcome, you have a Great Looking Boxster!

If your issue is not the fuse, and the they work intermittently, the only conclusion I can reach is that there is something wrong with either the wiring or the headlamp switch. The switch would be the easiest place to start looking for a problem.

I have the same problem, I have a headlight switch coming to hopefully cure the problem. I replaced the ignition switch and it did not cure the problem.
