diagnostic error codes?

Does anyone know how to look up the meaning of specific error codes? I have a 2001 Boxster S (986), my mechanic read a code "P4440," we think this is related to ABS/PSM but want specifics.

Where can we find this? Btw, I bought an on-line version of the Boxster tech manual, and it does not seem to have the list!

Thank you...
