Removal of softop for 'permanent' hardtop?

That sounds simple enough But did you actually get to see them do it. I wonder if it's just that....

The top was removed before I got to the tech session. Guy on the UK board took it off himself so he could have a new window put in.

This is another car at my dealer with the top off.
