Nicely done Ed .... and I can appreciate why you're doing it.

Being able to enjoy the 986 and your bikes at the same time should be great fun.

I transport kayaks and bikes on my BMW, though it's a more conventional roof rack setup... but the fun factor is similar.
My 987 is good for hauling folding kayaks.

My favorite multi-tasking is to carry homebuilt folding kayaks and on occassion bikes on my motorcycles.

Who says you can't take it with you....
