Yea, that's for the whole assembly incl. housing. The factory manual details just swapping the t-stat. It includes using a special tool - basically a drift to compress the t-stat which is then turned to pull free from the housing, installation being the reverse.

The problem may be that the t-stat alone is not much less than the whole assembly - Boxster t-stat

I went ahead and bought a 160 deg one from Jake Rabys site since he shows dynos with improved performance on a cooler T-stat. Might as well spend another 100 for 5 extra HP.
I cant seem to get ahold of him though as the site charged me for 2 and not one.
