And hopefully they will find a good fit between world class performance and world class style. Ferrari and Ford's GT40 are in my opinion the two best examples of that equal balance. I don't think I've ever me anyone who didn't say "WOW' upon seeing one in person.
One half of the equation in SUper Cars excite everyone as much as the other half. This new Boxster and its Cayenne interior really doesn't achieve that (IMHO). I have a feeling this latest 987 design will not remain for 7-8 years like the the first two designs.

Talking

I already posted on this so I won't go on too long. The 987 interior is to me, very very disappointing. Here is an area where Porsche could have spent a bit of money, (not much) and produced a world class outcome.

They did not. What are these Germans thinking of over there? There are plenty of cars that they can COPY from and it is free R and D. Take your pick, BMW 6, Lexus, Acura, Audi all have some very nice interiors.

If it were me, I would not touch a 987, rather I would stick to the 986 and trick it out with aftermarket items. But then again, that is just me!

I agree with you.

I recently purchased my 987 and I absolutely love it. I was lucky enough to find one with all the options I wanted (minus power seats, but that really wasn't a deal breaker to me), at a local dealer. I took a look at the 986 while I was there and while the exterior is slightly different, the heart of the car is still a Boxster.

The car is a blast to drive (I should note here that this is my first p car). I've got almost 800 miles on it already and I've loved every second of it. The steering is tight and responsive, the acceleration is smooth, and the shifting is a dream.

Happy driving!

I finally got around to the dealer this morning to see what all the talk was about.

The car was basically what I expected. I actually thought it looked a lot more like the 986 then I thought it was going to. I didn’t get a chance to drive since I was in a bit of a hurry. I spoke to a salesman for a little while. He told me in no uncertain terms that I would be crazy to trade in my 986 for a new one. Not that he thought the 987 was bad, far from it; he just thought the changes weren’t enough. "There's plenty of fun left in your '02" he said. He also told me that he thought the 987 was a better car than the 997, the only thing the 997 having was speed.

As far as the interior, personally I don’t really care either way. I’m one of those people who think that Porsches should have totally spartan interiors. The 986 interior is fine with me, the 987 too. I have a good friend with a SLK32AMG and his interior is really pretty with all sorts of wood trim and chrome and stuff. It’s really nice, but it makes me feel like Im riding in a big sedan, not a sports car, and definitely not a roadster.
