About the gutted exhaust: I had a local shop open up the exhaust from the top, remove most of the baffling, shorten the resonance pipes inside the exhaust and weld it close again (all the details can be found somewhere inside this thread:
http://www.babblers.org/forums/showthread.php?p=48230 ). As all the "damage" was done from the top there is no way anyone can detect the mod. Well, at least not by eye but definitely by ear
