Your fuel door issue is kinda odd to me. Mine just opens and stays open and closes and stays closed and doesn't seem to have much resistance either way... as if that spring is missing altogether or completely worn out on mine.

Now i have to investigate it.

This is how mine operates as well on my new to me 2001 Boxster S. I also noted the lock mech needed adjusting and will have that done by the dealer. Bob in Colroado Springs, CO

What did you ever find out about this issue?
My fuel door does what GotMud's does..... never stays open, wants to flip closed. I have just viewed it as an inconvience, but if there an adjustment I can make... or a spring to bend, I'll do it.

I had this problem. The spring was ok, but the detent at the back of the hinge was broken.

I got a new hinge and it fixed the problem.

The part # ( for my MY01) is 996-201-063-00

Here in Canada it was $15 in 2007.

See attached.
