I use Redline 5W40.

FYI- The only Porsche approved 5W50 oil is Mobil 1 (but is has a lower HTHS than Mobil One 0W40).

Here is a great read about oils:

For now I'm stickin with what porsche recommends. Although the fact that its strictly mobile 1 is odd..

Fragdude, not true. The Porsche approved oil list exceeds 10 pages. There 100's of approved oil brands. Not just Mobil.

Interesting, I wonder why the PCA says only mobile 1 0/5W-40? any ideas?

Hi Fragdude, I re-read the PCA post, and I don't interpret it that same way as you. It says 0W40 and 5W40 are the only approved viscosities. It does not say (to me) that Mobil is the only approved oil brand.

In fact, the PCA data in that link is already outdated, since we now know that 5W50 is also approved (true, in this cass that only Mobil One is).

Here is a good older thread about oil. In there is a link to Porsche's multi page list of approved oil suppliers.
