Help with buying a 2000 S boxster

Just test drove a 2000 S Boxster... Thought the car drove & handled just great.. My only concern was the noise and general feel when going over bumps.. I thought the car would be more solid/stiffer..

Do the creaks moans, groans, etc get worse with time?? I know this will drive me up the wall if the noise/squeeks gets worse!!! Am I over re-acting

I agree that especially compared to a 911 the Boxster doesn't feel as tight, and makes more noise going over the bumps. On my '99 the most traceable noise is the rattle from the plastic grilles in the rollbars.
Drive with the top down. The racket from the tires on the trucks around you will drown out anything the Box is doing.

Are the Stuttgart 986's better built that the Finnish ones?? Any problems with the 2000 'S' that I should beware??

In my experience, this varies by Boxster. Some I drive are a bit creaky and others, not at all. I have had some luck with having the dealer take some out, but if you are buying a 2000, unless you have an extended warranty, that method could be expensive.

Yes, the 911 is a bit more solid, esp the coupe. I have a coupe for you if you want to spend a bit more money (quite a bit actually!).

There is no verifiable difference between the Finnish and German models. There used to be speculation that Finnish paint jobs might be a touch better than the German, but nothing that really showed a trend.

Rattles over bumps on a 2000 S might be suspension rattles or top rattles. I have 030 w 18" wheels and the east coast potholes can be jarring - however Lime Rock and The Glen make it worth it

There is some road/tire noise that goes through the structure especially over bumps, but this is normal(remember it's not a Lexus). When the top is up it can make some noises due to slight flex in the body/chassis. Nothing serious if this is occuring.
