Porsche Rear speakers
A point of info. I just installed a rear storage compartment in a 2003 Boxster S. This one came with four speakers as an extra cost option on Boxsters ( I got this unit from a used parts dealer).
The new unit sounds GREAT! Nice clean look to it and wonderful sound.
Just thought I would let you guys know!

Oh yeah! Bought my storage box and speakers separately from Ebay... unbelievable sound difference, top up and top down.

I have my PNP speakers and grills sitting in my trunk waiting to be installed. I read on one of the other forums that upgrading to the 6 channel AMP would make a huge difference over my 4 channel amp. I asked the guy at PNP if this was the case and he disagreed.
Did you guys use filler behind the speakers? Whered did you get the filler?

No filler behind mine because someone on this list said they put some in (from an old couch cushion that they were chunking out) and it made no difference in bass sound or loudness. It's not that large of a space behind it so most of it points toward the cabin.
Problem is that the seatbacks in my car, and probably yours are all the way back and this sheilds some of the sound.

I think it has to be a certain kind of filler, one that has sound dampening qualities. Perhaps something like Dynamat or polyfil wadding. I had some put into the door panels of a previous car (behind the speaker) and it made a tremendous difference. I think the concept would be the same for the rear speakers. There's really no sound dampening behind the seats, just the panel and the soft top.

And the carpet and mat underneath it, which is very fat indeed.
But, it would be a cheap experiment I think, to try it.

While we're on the topic of stereos, does anybody know what the measurements are on the factory speakers? The components in the dash, the door speakers, and the rears?

Speakers went in. I have surround sound! 
output is noting like the front and doors but gone is bizzare from-the-front-only sound. My installer charged me $40 and I picked up a bag of polyfill from WAL-MART for $3. I think the cubby hole would be a better spot for the speakers since the sound waves are blocked by the back of the seat. Maybe I can stick a MidBass in there? Which would be 7 speakers!
The only problem is I can't hear the engine when the sound is up at 30. Its a tough choice since I shift via the engine sound and not the tach.

Sounds like a job for the "bun-tach" (TM)! So long as it doesn't get fooled by the bass from your new speakers...

hmmm....that sounds like the genesis of an idea.
vibrating steering wheel when RPMS reach a shifting point?
a bluetooth earpiece that wold channel the engine rev sound?
a 3d graphic image projected to the windshield?
