Boxster S is back to 0 - 60 time of 5.1 seconds
Porsche's website, changed back the rating of its Boxster S 0 - 60 time to 5.1 seconds. It seems that upon introduction of the R 60 Spyder, Porsche wanted to distinguish the car's performance from the regular Boxster S, and raised the 0 60 time of the Boxster S to 5.2 seconds. Well, it is now back to 5.1 seconds. However, the top speed of the RS 60 Spyder is rated at 170 mph, whereas the Boxster S is a mere 169 mph.

Yes I usually post a different picture with my posts. This is why I do not post a pic with my signature, as it allows for a wider variety.

Well, I'm not convinced. It looks a little off-red to me, got any more pix?

I care, as it is an example of Porsche marketing, and how it deviates from reality. Marketing will not allow the Boxster/Cayman to impede on the 997, and while the newly introduced RS 60 has 8 more hp, Porsche decided to keep it advertised at 5.1 seconds, and downgrade the advertised figure for the Boxster "S". That lasted about 2 weeks and as legal probably talked with marketing, and they thought the better of it. If Porsche were seriously wanting to build the best car out there, they would put an X51 engine from the 997 into the 987. However, they continue to use conservative numbers to distance the base 997 from the 987S.

Jeez....I wish they would just man up and drop he engine from the GT3 into the Box and Cayman and say screw the 911 elitist snobs. Mid-Engine is where Porsche has their most potential.
