"Here is how you can tell of REAL Porsche.
It was made by the Porsche company"
Are you suddenly changing your judgement criteria on REAL Porsches to suddenly encompass all cars that ultimately have legal liability to Porsche?
If that's the case my cousin's Skoda Octavia is a real Porsche too!

No need for the attitude. If Porsche outsources manufacturing to some other company, the car is still legally a Porsche. If you want to use some other definition, then you are free to. If Porsche Outsourced the manufacturing of its beloved 911, would you not call that car a Porsche?
Since Porsches ASSEMBLED in Germany contain many outsourced parts (the transmissions are made in Japan), I would suggest your distinction is rather useless in everyday use.. At the end of the day, the nameplate, the title, the legal manufacturer are all Porsche.
Again, lets watch your tone if you choose to respond. This topic is certainly not worth any bickering.

you dont see him bashing another car, like for instance a toyota corolla, since he doesnt feel the need to show off to those cars.
but somehow, theres a lot of hate towards the box, i think they all just pissed that the car keeps getting ridiculously good ratings accross the board, so if all the car experts (the ones who actually know something about cars) say its good, and we all agree, it must be good since we all just love driving these cars.

Firstly, it was not my distinction but your distinction.
By defult that makes your distinction useless in everyday use.
I never made any 'distinction' other than a light-hearted remark about Skoda's.
I'm purely (albeit with a modicum of dry humour) seeking some clarity as you were appearing to set a definitive & indisputable criteria of what a real Porsche.
Secondly, if you are so quick to warn me to watch my tone, how about a warning regards the offensive racist tones used by some members when reffering to Japanese sports cars?
Lastly, I apologise if you were offended by my tone. I see this as bantering not bickering.

I hope you're not refering to me...
If so, which car did I bash exactly? The Boxster? Are you accusing me of 'showing off' my car? When did I 'show off' exactly?
I was just stating that it was built/manufactured/assembled by Valmet not Porsche.
Unlike you, I don't seem to get any 'hate' towards my Boxster. Just a little 'hate' from you guys for defending other cars.
Would I have spend good $$$ on it if I hated it?

craker count me in for the popcorn.....this thread is hysterical...
hey baby, I don't think DJ was referring to you....not to speak on DJ's behalf but I think the "him", in you don't see "him" bashing other cars, refers to the original 350 poster....in other words the 350Z driver is thrashing that which he doesn't have.....which I'm sure he, like every other 350Z, could afford....
and DJ's point is a simple one, the 350Z owner doesn't bash a Toyota Corolla because his ego isn't threatened by it, however he sees the porsche, a car he doesn't own, and feels threatened by it on some level....and rants out....simple....
now, I'll patiently wait for the lock

Isn't an Infinity....
just a re-badged NISSAN....seems to blow his whole argument out of the water.
Who is the poser now??? At least a boxster is badge the same and not just a made up brand name to up purchase price.

Who's got the butter?
Sorry it took me so long to get back. I couldn't find a big enough microwave so I had to pop this over a burning Nissan.

That may be. However, I will once again ask you to tone it down. We can all have fun here or we can make this like an argument.
I prefer fun.
Again, you are free to define a "Porsche" with any criteria you like.

You're splitting hairs in an attempt to be argumentative.
Porsche designed, produces, markets, sells, services, has rights to, and owns the Boxster automobile. Porsche "makes" the Boxster in the general and widely accepted sense of the word. There is no doubt in any rational mind that a Boxster is indeed a Porsche.
Workers in a factory assemble Boxsters. The Porsche company pays them to do so, under their scrutiny, by their instructions, using their parts. It doesn't matter one bit what sign says on the outside of the building, the cars are built by Porsche.
Porsche makes the Boxster. Valmet simply provides a building, some machinery, and some trained workers.
Hmm... on second thought, maybe baby's right. I've had my Boxster apart and have re-assembled it. So it's no longer a Porsche/Valmet Boxster.
It's now a JackG Boxster. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I think we all enjoy driving our Porsche Boxsters. Why would other people's immature comments make any difference to us????????

You know what pisses me off? People using up bandwidth to show how other people bash things you love, and then you bash them for liking what they like.
I guess you could say "tolerance" is the key. If people didn't want variety, life would truly suck.

BL -
I prefer fun too.
But once again if you're asking me to tone it down then I'll ask you not to involve yourself in namecalling.
Saying that I'm immature is stepping out of line.
Those of you using racist tones to describe Japanese cars are also out of line.
I will re-iterate, most of what I'm saying is tinted with sarcasm & dry humour, I'm having as much & if not, more fun with this thread as you guys are, but if you feel that I'm overstepping your boundaries then ban me if you feel the need. I'm a guest in your house afterall.
DJ - I hear ya.
JackG - I like your JackG Boxster. However it's now NOT a REAL Porsche anymore! omg! what now!??!?
blackONblack - Infinity's are actually re-badged Nissans? the G35 is still a pretty nice car & the 350Z on which it's based is a damned good one.
If my Box was a re-badged Hyundai I still wouldn't care. It wouldn't change the things I like about it. It wouldn't make it any less of a car than say... a VW Cayenne or Audi Gallardo or even a Ferrari Punto.
My comments regarding Valmet were not pandantic for the sake of being argumentative. It was a light-hearted side swipe at BL stating for once & for all and indisputably that a Porsche is a real Porsche when it's made by Porsche.
Again no offense intended here. It's all light-hearted banter.
Now pass me some Skittles...

dear Baby, the g35 is built on the same platform as the 350Z, my friend worked for Nissan during the years those vehicles were introduced. I can't see how saying one is rebadged stabs at Japanese honor, relax! Last week, another mechanic suggested FIAT meant First Italian Attempt at Transportation. I'm one hundred percent Italian, I knew he was joking, I didn't phone any Uncles in black Caddys...
