At the dealer parts department, pelican parts online, Sunset Porsche,...among other places. If you think they look good on an 03, then you'll like it on your pre-03.

I believe I was quoted $138.00 each unpainted by Sunset in OR. Pricey cosmetic change but you may be able to find a used set somewhere and if you are really lucky a set already painted in your body color. Let me know if you have any success as I may be interested too.

It seems as though the design to move the grills/blades closer to the out side would make it easier to pull more air into the engine. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks for the photo. I never knew there was an "updated" design. I think I agree with you in preferring the older design.

i dont know for sure, but to me it looks like a hole, one way or another, tha the air is sucked from. it doesn look like any kinda ram air, but just any air that is out there, so speed doesnt seem to make any difference

After looking closely at both inlet covers, it seems that the inside opening is exactly the same size on both so unless the ribs are larger on one over the other the same amount of air should be delivered. It would also seem that removing the snork would provide a bit of ram effect as then the cavity would fill with air pressure at speed and not just be drawn in through that narrow opening pipe which looks somewhat restrictive. The actual opening where the snork enters the filter box is larger than the opening in the end of the snork as it tapers from narrow at the opening end to larger at the filter entry end. Just some thoughts and observations
