The primary purpose of the "Red Clip" is to deactivate the top control mechanism when the car has "Speedster Humps" installed. It prevents major damage to the top, its machanism and the clamshell.

In retrospect I guess I'm happy we didn't get into the car without the key. I assume the alarm would have sounded if we opened the door and the key wasn't in the trunk. Does anyone know if the alarm 'times out' or would it just drain the battery all the way down?
I'm working from memory here (which, with me, is highly suspect) but I seem to recall that the manual for my 986 says the alarm sounds for about 3 minutes.

What a story...man, you are really kind... "beautiful wife" and "she just misplaced it in her makeup bag" ----- HAHA....I would have had to say "I hope you got your walking boots on now missy, cause you are going to get to use em...." ----

Seriously, thanks for sharing....and for not losing your cool. Can't say I would have been so understanding at the time....but then again, I can only imagine that Duluth is slightly more comfortable than say the deep humid south!

All the best,
M
