Well, dealer prep fees appear to be bogus, but don't fool yourselves, because there is a lot of prep to be done to our cars prior to driving them off the lot. Have you ever seen our cars when they arrive "off the boat"? They are literally wrapped in a cocoon of tape and a protective cover for the rag-top. Plus the DME needs to be awakened and the gas tank filled. Porsche pays the dealership a prep fee...not you.

As for Doc Fees, I think these are "real" cost but very negotiable (like most things). Some States, Illinois included, have laws on the books dictating just how high these fees can be. Some dealers charge the upper end, while others do not. You can check your Attorney General's web site for more info.
