we still push 6S hard, but mostly because our customer likes the appearance of frequent discrete cost-cutting initiatives. maybe it's our corporation's management style, but most lean / 6S events lack follow-through and don't produce results. sometimes the process owner injects himself into the process to try to sway results, too. frustrating. a lot of people at our company are starting to think of lean events / kaizan / VSM as a waste of a week with a birthday party
on friday. again, though, the customer loves it.

i think sometimes american management corrupts the spirit of the japanese ideas.

HAHA! My colleagues are huddled around me and we are crying from laughing so hard at this!!! BTW what kind of cake do you use? We had to cut costs back to McCain's frozen ones.

i checked. aparently we've cut back on the cake, too. the logical result of a kaizen to cut the cost of kaizens......
