When I was in high school a friend of mine had a 912 that he had restored. (He spent his nights and weekends sanding off the rust.) If I recall correctly, the controls on the car were plain black knobs with few labels. When people would comment about the cryptic controls he would always say, "If you don't know how to operate it, you shouldn't be in it."

By the way, that is the only 911 or 912 in which I rode in the back "seat".
