Diamler dumped Chrysler because they didn't want the pension liability. Some capital group now owns Chrysler. I'm pretty sure the Korean cars are all different, but they make cars for other names. Hundai is a huge company, in addition to cars, they make ships, heavy equipment, electronics, shipping containers, etc. Daewoo also makes it's own heavy equipment.
