Ferrari Whacks Porsche (again) in GT2

Showing that the Sebring result was no fluke, the Risi Competizione Ferrari F430 of Jaime Melo and Mika Salo soundly defeated the Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 of Bergmeister and van Overbeek. Had Tomas Enge not had the misfortune of smashing his Petersen/White Lightning F430 into a barrier while running first in GT2, the Porsche might well have finished third.
Looks to me like the wizards in Stuttgart need to get that 3.8 liter Cayman off the drawing board and onto the track.

yeah i saw that too, but you know...the flying lizard cars are so sexy, i can just watch them run all day and not really care about the score board (well not really but you know...).

that, and the P2 cars almost got whacked by Acura again. there is NO excuse for what happened at Sebring. last year at Sebring, the RS Spyders were down with alternator issues. THIS year at Daytona, the p-powered cars suffered alternator issues. two weeks later, the RS Spyders at sebring suffered alternator issues. they got shawalloped by the NEW guy!

with the 997 cars, it's my understanding that it's braking and handling where Ferrari is excelling. the braking thing suprises me, as rear-engined cars have an inherent weight balance advantage for this.

the Cayman is quite capable. Ernie's Cayman S race car took fifth overall yesterday in our PCA club race, ousting SEVERAL GT3 cup cars. usually he wouldn't race against them, but a weather fluke caused consolidation of the top two run groups into a single 1/2 combo group. it was raining, of course, but a STRONG showing by the Cayman.

The two Ollies had a smooth run to the American Le Mans Series winner's circle in their No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R after a driveline problem sidelined the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R of Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen.

the finish at sebring was exciting, but the way the pcar got bumped at the end was a bit of a pisser.

Yes and no. The 911 has great brakes and may (or may not) stop quicker overall than the Ferraris. However, compared to a mid-engine car, you need to brake earlier (relatively) and then get on the gas sooner. Hard to understand, but, essentially it takes a different style than the Ferraris need to. This would give the advantage to the mid-engine car. My guess is that in HP numbers, the two must be close as well.. (480 ish iirc) so its hard to "drag race" the Fcars as well.
