Not on a US-spec F430 . The European model has launch control, which will give you a perfect launch (and a 3.5s 0-60 time), but Ferrari deemed that too risky for the US. Apparently they were afraid of getting sued over it.

It's weird, though. My Gallardo does have launch control (not that I've had a chance to use it yet) and so does the 360 Stradale and Ferrari Enzo. They had one of the latter in the shop when I was there to pick up the car today. Holy schmoly, that car is wicked.

Another thing you may cry about is that the Euro Spec models get a rated 490hp as opposed to 483 here.

I'm not sure if our standards are slightly different or if they detuned the engine slightly for the US, a common thing amongst European automakers...

We have the largest car market in the world, yet we always get the crappiest cars

BTW: Have you considered selling the Gallardo? There are Gallardos, 2004 and 2005 alike that are going for 140,000.

Compare that to the used F430 market, where there are less than HALF of the amount of Gallardos floating around, and none can even be bought for less than 200k.

I fear for you losing a lot of $$ on your other beauty.

The Gallardo had a major update in 2006. That's why the 04 and 05s are getting hammered. Most 06s are still going for 170-180. But yah, there's certainly money to be lost regardless. But it's not nearly as bad as the grapevine would let you believe .

I don't have any plans for selling, though. Incredibly different cars. And the Gallardo is a coupe too.

So is the Gallardo more of a track car? What is your purpose for it exactly? Maybe for looking nice when you go out?

I apologize for the questions...I don't want to make you think I'm interviewing you

What's the purpose of any sports car ? Rarely would it be transportation. If it was, you'd be better off with a Camry. So it's for having fun, of course.

But yeah, I intend to take both cars to the track this year. Signing up for LAPS (http://lapsincorporated.com/).

Don't worry, if he has $$$ for a Gallardo and a F1 F460, then there should be no problem paying a $250 ticket!

I guess what I was really asking was, "Why both?"

Are they that much different in their appeal that you find them both fun and exciting in unique ways?

Congrats on the new machine! I can't even dream of riding in one much less owning one, though that can't stop me from wanting!
