As a former S4 owner, I want to place a vote for you to swap in a 2.7t

The 6 speed is much stronger than the 5 speeds. If you know anyone who can tig weld aluminum, I'd think about holding onto that six speed and try using it instead. Try welding a cover for the starter onto the 6 speed maybe? The five speed will hook up to the Audi motor easier though. If you're going to use the five speed, go with one from a 987. They're supposedly stronger internally.

Thanks Woody. I have not explored the trans options much other than I know the 986 s starter is in the very wrong place.
The 4.2 V8 from an A8 or A6 is the power plant I am leaning toward. I have seen the 5 speed take LS power, so I assume it will take 330hp/280tq. I also considered trying to cable shift and audi 01E with the middle drive deleted. I know that will take the power, juts unsure of inner CV options.

I believe the 01E is even stronger than the boxster 6 speed. It's what I'm going to use in my mid engine 911. I'm shooting for 650-700hp 2.7T in a 2500lbs car. If you're only hoping for 330hp/280tq, the 5 speed should work. You may want to hold onto the wire harness if you can. You never know what you might need off it. Jon had to buy one from me to get his ac working. http://986forum.com/forums/show-tell-gallery/54328-boxsterls376-introduction-ls3-conversion.html

I'm hoping to work on this swap in the winter too. I'm planning on the 4.2L V8 in my 2003 S.
Where are you located?

As a former S4 owner and 2.7t swapper into a B6 A4, I'd recommend going with the 4.2L V8. Someone in the UK has already done the 2.7T swap and I don't think the turbos fit in the engine bay of the Boxster, which is why that guy went with a big single turbo. So if you're going to have to re-do all the turbos or go big single, why not do it with the V8 to begin with? Plus as good as the 2.7tt sounds, there's nothing like a high revving V8.

I am also willing to sell the engine and trans individually. Think my price may be a bit high too.
Maybe $1200 for the trans and 2300 for the engine?

These are still for sale. Have them out of the car and ready to go. $2500 for the pair or willing to sell individually.

Ok, how about $1500 for engine and $500 for trans?
This drivetrain is just taking up space in my shop.

You might have better luck selling that 6 speed on Ebay. Kit car guys like them and EBay's a better place to find those guys. Heck I'd even go back up on your price if you do decide to sell on there.

Thanks Woody. was just hoping to help some other Porsche nut out that had a failure. Hell, this is everything needed to convert a base car to an S drivetrain.

Awesome deal. If I wasn't already swamped with projects, I'd pick it up for my '01 base. Someone must need this? ...or maybe all that stuff we read and write about cracked heads and bad IMS bearings is just imaginary.
Still have it in a week??? and I'll inquire about shipping to Oklahoma. Don't need it, don't want to store it, but hate to see it go to eBay.

I contacted the seller last week looking to buy just the transaxle, he decided to pass me by and sell the whole thing to you. If you end up with a spare transaxle I could really use one.
