shiny black

I have read that black is the most difficult color to get to the desired shiny finish. This one looks good.
On another note, I have just unpacked my replacement rear Boxster badge for the rear lid. There seems to be a red film on the back of the item. Is this to be removed to expose the advertised double sticky tape.
