krn986, most likely if you don't have a TC button, you don't have traction control. TC was an option anyway. You could check the hood option codes, but if you don't have the button, then I doubt it's even worth checking.

TC is not the same as PSM. PSM is a yaw-control superset which first was an option in 2001. The "car skipping across the pavement" is standard wheel hop. These cars don't like to be launched. I'm not a drifter, but I would say drifting a Boxster would be difficult because of the rear weight bias and low polar moment of inertia. The car wants to turn/spin. It does not want to hang its tail out (at least under power).

On a related subject, are there any Porsche brake gods out there? I'm actually considering adding TC/ABD. I have a start on the basic hardware differences, but who knows about the electrical/software differences? Yes, I know it would not be cheap.
