I would start by taking the pedal apart to see if something inside is binding up. I would then work towards the rear and make sure everything is working properly in the back too. There's a pivot arm behind the driver's seat/ in front of the motor where you want to look and up by the throttle body. If those all check out, then I would suspect it's the cruise control box directly above and connected to the gas pedal. I recommend checking the other stuff first only because they're real easy and quick to check before you go trying to remove the cruise control box.
