It's easiest to take the glass out and do it. It only takes a few minutes to get it out.

Once out, you can use tons of water. Lay the glass flat and douse it and the back of the film with water (I actually used a running hose...even better if you have a tub filled with water and the glass submerged). Once the film is positioned, use your squeegee to force the water out. Let it set for 5 minutes, then use a scribe blade to trim around the edge, leaving a 3-5mm reveal (the reveal will keep the film from peeling at the edge from rubbing the weather stripping).

Doing it with lots of water allows you to position it better and prevents air bubbles and trapped debris.
