I have the glass window top on my 2000S. Engine access is certainly more limited compared to the old top. My car has behaved so far and it hasn't been an issue.
If I needed to perform extended work on the car requiring top access, I'd just remove the whole top and frame. It'd add 30 minutes on each side of the repair but it might be worth it.
