Disagree. Take it from someone who actually knows.
If used correctly, the correct Porsche made tool is ideal. Sockets fall off and are a PITA.
I've used it hundreds of times. If you are using enough force to break it, you weren't using it correctly or your mechanism is bound, so you should address the real issue before you strip the lock bar and even a socket won't save you.
You'll be stuck with a headlight that you can't remove and a car that you can't drive due to burnt out bulbs that you now can't replace because you decided to use a jerry-rigged solution instead of actually fixing the problem.
