Otherwise it seems like it could be a good place to put the oil line for the accusump, and avoid having to lose some clearance down with the oil filter hanging down low due to the sandwich plate. (and save a few bucks on the sandwich plate too )

The oil port I am talking about is the one used for the DOF feed go to page 3 or 4 from the end and also some folks have mounted an oil pressure or oil temp gauge in this location:

The reason the oil is routed to the oil filter is that it goes from there through relatively large oil passages to feed the rotating assembly, which balls up quickly at high revs and without oil. Feeding oil back into the heads requires the oil to go though small passages backwards before it sees the rotating assembly, which simply could take too long.
