7/32's on your tires is fine. Most new tires are 9/32's.

Maybe the boot needs a new clamp or zip-tie. Cheaper to replace a boot than a joint. Want to keep the dirt out of the joint. Front brakes might have more beef on them, because they are newer????

Was your brake fluid flushed at the inspection? Must be done, if not.
