Oil Filter Debris... a mystery. Opinions?
While I figure out what to do with my IMS Guardian kit, I pulled the filter from my Boxster this afternoon. There was absolutely no ferrous or otherwise metallic debris on the filter media. Good news!!  There were, however, about 10 smallish particles that looked like plastic.  Here's what they look like:
Upon closer examination, it turns out that these small pieces are soft - rubbery, even. Below is a close up I took with my good camera - you'll be able to see that this piece has a circular, fluted shape.
As this stuff is soft, and there wasn't much of it, I think I've got nothing to lose sleep over. But the question is, what is it? Anyone have an idea??
