The transmission housing stayed in the car but the half-shafts and the differential were disassembled from the transmission housing. The differential was replaced with the new TBD and everything was reassembled. My apologies if I used the wrong terminology.

There is a write-up over at www.planet-9.com which gives you an idea of how the process worked if you are interested. I thought about doing it myself as a friend of mine did with his Cayman; however, I didn't want to mess around with trying to get it shimmed properly and I thought the install price was reasonable.
