there were a lot of threads here about SSK. several people have bought the 997/987 shifter assembly and really liked it. it isn't as notchy as the B&M, but not as short either.

the part number is 997-424-010-00. It costs $169 at ****************************************************.com

i'm about to order one. i was tempted to get a B&M, but I drove my bro in law's 996 and he has a B&M in his 6 speed, and honestly, I did not care for how it shifted. it was MUCH shorter than the throw in my boxster, but it was really stiff and notchy. to me, it made the actual shift shorter, but the effort was increased to where I found it annoying.

if I could keep the stock "feel" but make it a bit shorter and more direct feeling - I think I'd be happy. from all my reading here, the 987/997 shifter assembly sounds like the perfect compromise. plus it's not too expensive. it's a direct bolt in install too.

i'll post my thoughts when I get one.
