I have a problem with my 2000 986. He starts fine and then when he gets to 185F in the temperature gauge he the engine shuts off. I replaced the ignition switch cause thats what a lot of people told me it could be but it didnt do anything. Now Im wondering... He will shut down and I cannot get it to start until hes fully cooled down. The engine cranks but he doesnt turn on.

Sounds to me like a temp sensor. If the CPU thinks that the car is overheating, it may shut it down to protect the engine. A call to a mechanic can verify.
