My 2003 Boxster S

Took this picture today after cleaning the mud and grime from the Bear Mountain ride with 6speed.com group. We had a great time for our first trip. I was a member of the spirited group and we hit 105 + in the rain and my wife keep calm throughout. Needless to say it was exhilariting. We should do this trips more often it was lots of fun to see all the Porsches there from 924 to 911 Twin Turbos.

No I was in Group II. I drove with my wife. We had a great time. I would have liked more organization at the Hooters though. You know what if anything happened to the 928 that went off the road?

I met one of the guys on the way in the same car as yours. I did see your car in the parking lot though. The guy in group 3 took the turn too fast in the rain and spun off the highway into the woods. I saw his car when we passed by but I hear they winched him out and no one was hurt including the car!

I posted pictures on 6speedonline.com and my car was behind a red turbo that had a Porsche decal a la Ferrari on his fenders. I think that I might do that I looked real classy. That was a nice turn out unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. On the plus side today my wife got a better appreciation of the car and its capabilities in the wet and how it handled the curves. She was impressed. A little different than a 2001 Audi S-4.

It's not the lack of handling that scares me in the wet, it's the lack of all weather tires.

I saw that Turbo, but it looked good cause it was a red car. I would not do it on your silver one.

I don’t have a picture of those stickers. But I saw a guy with them on a black Boxster the last time I was in Miami. It actually made me do a double take. I thought it looked pretty cool, but I don’t think I would do it to my car since it is such a Ferrari trademark.

I agree, it seems kinda wannabe-ish perhaps. I'd still like to see what it looks like though.

mmmm......if you don't have a ferrari, I say don't try to make your porsche 911/boxster look like one For some reason the sticker works on the 360 modena, but it just doesn't click on the 911. It looks like an afterthought(which makes sense, since it is).

I really like your 03 S pilot. It is very similar to mine except mine's g. red. How many miles have you put on it since you picked it up? I'm thinking you said you picked it up with 6k on the clock but I can't be sure as I believe there is another member here who posted a sliver 03 S as well. I just rolled over 6k on mine this weekend. I've been a driving maniac since 75+ degree weather started to appear. I was curious, do you plan on doing any sort of mods or are you going to keep it stock. I only have one thing so far, clear side markers , but i'm thinking about more when I can get some $$ in the bank.

p.s. good decision on the decal.

I picked it up with 3,300 on the clockin December and I have now 8,100. I use it as a daily driver and the pleasure of going to work even stuck in the nightmarish Belt Pkwy or Cross Bronx Distressway fade away when I hear the engine purrs. God if I would have known I would have preferred no radio and just listen to the engine.
I been racking my brains thinking of what to update in the car and so forth but it really boils down to the fact that this car is such a joy and blast to drive that the results of spending thousands of dollars would be minimal. I read an magazine article that said that the Boxster is "freakishly fast when in its power range past 4k rpm it launches off like a F-14 off a carrier. I agree with that statement and to go from freakishly fast to Rediculous Speed as in Space Balls just does not makes any sense to me anymore. In NY City how fast can I go before I have the federales all over me. Sure I would love to have more horses but think that the top speed of the Carrera is 177 and ours is 164. Top speed delta of 13mph equates to about 20,000-25000 additional cost. That is a lot money for 13 miles an hour which 99% of us will never reach the top speed of our car.
Having said all of that I think that I will be looking for the Navigation radio that Pioneer is going to selling in May. The model is AVIC-N1. Check it out. Looks like a nice gadget for the toy. The rest of the package I don't think I am tinkering with maybe.......

Very good points. I would agree that the meat of the power in the box s is from 4-7 rpm and it pulls very strongly for a 258hp car. The top speed issue is no big deal to me since I will probabbly never hit 160+mph. Sheer acceleration is what I want in excess because I like to play around with vettes and the like. The box s doesn't win all the races but it does everything very well or excellent with is something you can't say for many sports cars. I just wish it was more mod friendly. Motor trend declared the box s the best mid-engined car for the money in the most recent issue. Those are pretty strong words.

I recommend a conversation with Jamie @ Paris Audio (LA) before you decide on a sound system. He has done good things for many Boxsters in CA and beyond.

See what the folks in the bay area have to say -

He used to hang out a lot on PPBB a year ago when I used to hang out a lot at PPBB. Now that I have a job again, that place has way to many posts to visit regularly.
