Ha! Your advice is exactly what I have done already... you told me last year what to buy and I did it! PC, Lake Country Pad, Menzerna products, Klasse AIO, and P21s.

I still have numerous places on the front and back trunk lids where some complete idiot jammed too much crap in the trunks and then slammed them shut, making "reverse" dings in the panels and paint. The paint actually cracked under the pressure.

I also have scratches that go throught the paint into the primer here and there, two eraser head sized rust spots below the exhaust fan area, and two sets of BAD door dings on the passenger side fender from vacation last year (forced to park in a very tight SC hotel parking lot and someone got me not once, but twice). The door dings are just flat embarassing to me. I just know people walk by my car and say, "oooh, I bet he's pissed about those dings."

This is why I want to have the car torn down and repainted properly one day. But it will be the last thing I do.

Kronix: Hopefully, Santa will be good to me this year and I will have some side skirts and humps on the car and it should make it look more elaborate and less simple.

I'd sooner invest in a repaint then any power mods. One will expand the pool of buyers and the other will limit it.

I was in the same predicament with my last car. It was also black, daily driven and the mods were starting to add up. I got it for 50% of new private seller Bluebook so I didn't sweat the money I was spending, I just considered it an entertainment expense since it became a big part of my life with autocrossing and all. I avoided the Turbo charger that I lusted after for the entire period of ownership. Dutifully invested in the "cosmetics" and after the car was 100% tasty some dude from Florida saw it for sale on Ebay. . Even though the selling price was twice the Blue Book private seller price, had over 100K on the odometer, the guy new the effort, time and money that went into making it a head turner and had to have it.
I picked him up at the Airport, he paid me ca$h and drove the thing right back down to Florida from where he came. He even gave me a ride to pick up the BoxsterS which was sitting in the spare showroom (trade in). Even a month after the sale I was still getting people asking me if I could give him the contact info of the new owner.

After 5 years I only lost $3K on the "deal" well worth the fun I had for five years.
The key was to get everything as cheap as possible. People called me Mr. Ebay back then but when I told them what I got for the car and what I was stepping into next they saw the method to madness. Hopefully I'll repeat the experience because when it comes to guys and their cars sometimes they part with their money in the most illogical ways. Makes me want to start restoring 993's.

yeah i have lots of swirl marks, not too many dents n chips, but that's all expected, its hard to keep a car in mint condition...it's just part of driving and over time thats all expected. we still have really good paint on our cars, the shine is really amazing. your car still looks brand new in that pic.

i'm sure perfect lap will be happy about the side skirts that you plan to get...he was my inspiration to get them....tell santa to visit dps auto...very good pricing and paint was very good.

Thumbs up

Randall,

Your car looks great! You have really rejuvenated a car that had not seen any love from its' former owners.
I saw you going through Memorial Park a while backand thought your car looked tight back then. With the new wheels she is the bomb; they really update it.

Congrats, the love (and money) you have lavished on your baby shows.

Thanks. I'm really enjoying Boxster ownership these days... the fearful days of worn parts and breakdowns are hopefully behind me!
