Clear vs 550 All Red Tail Lights
Whats everyone's thoughts on the clear tail lights vs the all red 550 versions? As you may have seen in the For Sale forum, I have my clear ones up for grab as I just bought the all red 550 ones.
I think the all red will go better with the white color of the car. The clear ones just felt odd to me.
thoughts?
Mark

The shape of the tails is very odd on this car and rather not good looking. This unfortunately makes it very hard to make them attractive. This is why I haven't touched mine. They all seem to look the same, one clear, one has some yellow, one has some red accent in it.

I think clear looks more modern. I also personally own an 03 so I may be a bit biased.

I was thinking about going clear, but that's because I was lucky enough to find a 550 which already had all red tails. Let me know if the grass is greener on the other side

I have always like the "Evil eye" look of the tail lights.

Hey Mark,
The 550 reds is probably next on my list for my car. I think it looks classier.

Out of those two, the 550s. The clears just look aftermarket and cheap - even on the facelift cars.
But I still think ambers are actually the best for 986s.

i prefer the smoked. if we're being honest, i'd prefer to have the entire taillight assembly smoked/black. though i have a black car, so...

I had the 550s on the 2001 Arctic Silver S and liked them. Changed them out for DEPO Smoked / Red LEDs and like them when I had my speedster humps on but not as much without. I'm in the market for 2003/4 Red / Clear or another set of the 550s.
Pick which one you like and I will buy the other! And welcome to make an off on my smoked of course.

The clear has the Euro look and the 550's has the USDM.

Installed them last night. I'm going to let it sit over the weekend and think which one I like better.

Just got all red lights for my Ocean Blue car today. Love the look over the old amber/red lights.
A tiny part of me, OK a huge part of me, wishes the reverse lights were red.

Pretty sure red reverse lights are illegal but you can always paint them.

I am sure some of you have already seen my car. But I went for the 550 look using tail light tints. $6 for red tints. $6 for gray tint. ebay. Free shipping. 30 minutes of DIY time.
I made the amber red. Cut out the reverse light and put gray tint to darken the reverse light since it went better with the black color of my car. Reverse light still shines white/yellow.
All red tail lights are illegal. If mechanic notices at inspection, it will not pass.
So I went from this:

L3M, I've got the 550 exhaust tip to match those 550 tails for sale - all that'd be missing is the muffler vent grills.
